Matrics in Antarctica is the brain child of pioneering explorer, Riaan Manser. This is a competition that is open every single matric student in South Africa from which 5 lucky matrics will be chosen to go on an educational adventure of a lifetime to Antarctica. They will be accompanied by Riaan and a group of distinguished professors from Stellenbosch University lead by Professor Jonathan Jansen.
Are you wondering what you need to do to enter? It is super simple, all that you would need to do is answer this question:
“If saving nature and the environment is a world problem - how can YOU help? What can you do in your own hometown that you believe will make a positive impact on the planet and possibly Antarctica?”
Riaan, Prof. Jansen and his team, and a representative from WWF South Africa will ultimately make the tough decision to choose the top 5 winners. You do not need to be a top 10 academic student or someone who has taken Maths and Science, we are just looking for an idea that we believe can make a difference.
Entries are open to ALL 2020 MATRICS so make sure to get your entry in now because entries close on 30 November 2020. The top 100 matrics will be chosen in December 2020 and finally the top 5 winners will be announced in January 2021 and will takeoff to Antarctica in January 2021 - make sure you are one of them!
